How do I get darker hair/lowlights?

Ok. It happened to me that I highlighted my hair so much, I'm mostly just allover blonde now. I want to grow out my MUCH darker roots, without having half my hair blonde and half brunette. Is there any way I can make my hair look darker? I'm really afraid to all-out dye it.

I don't know if I can get salon lowlights because my mom really wants me blonde. =(How do I get darker hair/lowlights?
you can get salon highlights of course or you can buy a brown hair dye and a highlighting cap and do it that wayHow do I get darker hair/lowlights?
My friend used to use coffee to color her hair, i'm sure it's safer but it also might be too dark. I'd say that would be your best bet no chemicals, coffee or henna. Unless you get box color, a color between blonde and brunette and do it that way. If you do color it again, CONDITION it. DEEP condition it. It will make your hair feel so much better, Bleach is hard on your hair so your probably having a heck of a time brushing through it too. hope this helps.
buy hair dye that is your natural color and dye streaks throughout your whole head....make sure you blend it so it looks more natural ... get semi-permanent so it fades as it grows...and as for the highlights...if you want to keep them just touch up at the roots as they start to grow out .
I would go for lowlights - they will mix through your hair. If you dont want it obvious - go for a darker blonde perhaps?

Whats the difference between hair highlights and hair lowlights?

highlights are highlights that are at the top of your head and are longor short just at the top of your head

lowlights are highlights that are underneath your haiar like beneath your hair by the back of your neckWhats the difference between hair highlights and hair lowlights?
highlights are put in from the roots of your hair, low lights are like these

just at the bottom or all at the back or even just dotted round the middle.

Hope this helps x
Highlights are lighter colors(though, when people say 'highlights', It's usually bleached.), and Lowlights are darker colors.
highlights are lighter colors like blonde or a light red and so on. Lowlights are darker colors like dark brown, black and so on.
Highlights are when you use a lightener like bleach and lowlights are when you use a color that is darker...I.E. brown or red.

The method is the same its just a different color

Hair lowlights?

i dont want highlights like everyone else...i want my hair darker, but when i go to cvs or walgreens....i only see boxes for highlights and not lowlights. where do i get lowlights besides the salon cuz i dont have the money for that and who makes them?Hair lowlights?
Basically, what you are looking for is a darker hair dye. It doesn't need to be labeled ';lowlights';... just pick a color that will compliment your natural color in a darker shade than your natural color. Applying it will be the big trick. I'd go to a retail beauty supply store and talk to the clerk (sometimes they are knowledgeable) and see if she/he can point you in the direction for the tools you'll need to apply the color.Hair lowlights?
The smell of hair dye can give you cancer! Stay away from it! Everyone, stay away!!!!!
depending on how dark ur hair already is, you can prob find some dyes that are supposed to be for highlights but are darker than ur hair so u can use them for lowlights.

beware though! dying your hair at home is even more damaging than at a salon and it could end up really bad b/c there's no1 to tell u if it will work! but if u do decide to do it, use good conditioner daily and a deep conditioner weekly to moisturize ur hair.

good luck!

Hair lowlights question?

i'm 14, and I have dark blonde hair. I have had blonde highlights in the past, but they grew out ages ago, and they made my hair a coarse texture, so i don't want to go lighter. I don't know which colour lowlights to get, or what would suit my hair colour. Help please??Hair lowlights question?
try a medium brown, copper, caramel or something along the lines of that.

  • Hair lowlights?

i have light brown hair naturally. about 1 year and 1/2 ago i got blonde highlights that i liked at the time but now i'd much rather have dark brown hair. i'm going to get lowlights, put on heavy. my eyes are dark brown, and i have tan skin, so im hoping it wont look too dark, you know? its like, the color my hair is when it's wet is the color i want it to be when it's dry. do you think the hairdresser will be able to understand what i'm asking for? id appreciate any advice.

ps. i also heard that to make it look more natural, brunettes should darken their hair with red lowlights. but i dont want my hair to be red. what should i do.Hair lowlights?
If you don't want red, go for 'warm' or 'golden' dark brown. Ashy browns tend to make your hair look dyed, and you look older. They go green under fluorescent lights, and that's why stylists try to steer people toward reds.

If you're feeling uncertain, use something like Clairol's Nice N' Easy, which washes out in a few weeks, and experiment with shades.

I'd recommend anything from dark gold-brown to warm purple for lowlights. Live a little!

Just don't use black. It'll be a disaster. Trust me. I didn't see my natural hair colour from the age of 13 until I was nearly 40!Hair lowlights?
i did the same thing...i had light brown hair and wanted darker hair and i wanted highlights/low lights .....my hair dresser thought i should get it a red type color but i wasnt having it....so instead i went for a dark brown base color and i got dark dark brown / black low lights and i loveee how it came outt

    Hair lowlights: what color is...?

What color is mahagony? I have medium-dark brown hair. I called and asked my stylist if she can dye my hair a darker brown and put dark red thin lowlights in and she suggested dark brown and mahagony lowlights weaved in together. Before I go to get it done I want to make sure this is what I want. I wanted dark red but every picture of mahogany I look up looks pinkish or purplish? Also what's the difference between weaved in and thin lowlights? I want mostly dark brown hair with thin lowlights of dark red (not those chunky highlights). Thanks.Hair lowlights: what color is...?
well mahogany is a type of red...its almost like a burgundy..but i think with dark brown it will look superr niceee. weaved highlights are highlights pretty much all over the place, instead of just str8 streaks.

good luckkk! (:Hair lowlights: what color is...?
Mahagony would be like; a really rich deep red. (Like a cherry wood color.)

And weaved in would mean that it would be very thin lowlights mixed in. It wouldn't be chunky lowlights; they would be mixed in with the dark brown hair to make it look more natural(:

    Help with hair lowlights?

i asked this before and only got an answer about a lightbulb, so i'll try again.

i know there is a home coloring kit to do lowlights. when i went to the store they didnt have it, but does anyone know what brand makes it? or if there are multiple brands that do?

ya know, lowlights, the opposite of highlights

    thanks :)Help with hair lowlights?
LOL YES LOWLIGHTS MOST PEOPLE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM SO JUST EVERYBODY KNOW LOWLIGHTS ARE PUTING A DARKER COLOR HIGHLIGHTS IN YOUR HAIR INSTEAD OF LIGHTER SO SAY IF YOUR HAIR IS BLONDE INSTEAD OF GETTING BLEACH BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS LOWLIGHTS WOULD BE LIKE GETTING A LIGHT BROWN HIGHLIGHTS

ANYWAY TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION MOST OF THE TIME AT STORES THEY DON'T REALLY HAVE LOWLIGHT PACKAGE OR THEY ARE SUPER HARD TO FIND JUST FIND A COLOR YOU LIKE AND GET AN APPLICATOR BUSH AND USE FOIL BUT DO YOUR LOWLIGHTS THAT WAY ITS EASIER THEN LOOK FOR A KIT

TRY A SALLY'S OR ANY BEAUTY SUPPLY STORE I'M NOT SURE WHERE YOU LIVE BUT THERE ARE SALLY'S ALL OVER THE PLACE TRY LOOKING IN THE PHONE BOOK THERE IS PROBABLY ONE NEAR YOU YOU CAN GET THE BRUSH AND THE CAP FOR LIKE A DOLLAR EACH PLUS THEY MIGHT EVEN HAVE A LOWLIGHT KIT THEREHelp with hair lowlights?
well- u dont have to get a low lites kit- all u need is the color that u want the lowlites to be and use either the frosting cap with the holes in it or use foils- make sure u can get it done by someone who knows how to do this or go to a professional- it can get messy if u don't have the experience.
